Stitched sampler made by Mary Lockhart. Dated March 12, 1758. Coarse weave fabric now discolored with age. Stitching colors were brown and blue. Stitched alphabet (note the missing "j" and "v") and numerals 1-10. Also stitched, "Mary Lockhart" and "March the 12 1758". Presented to the college by Mrs. Rebecca Williams Tyler, ex-officio 1847, of Martin, NC. Mary Lockhart was a relative of Mrs. Tyler.
