Verso: "In the Salesroom, Crossnore; Uncle Gilmore Johnson (Aunt Pop, his wife, not seen)"; The Sale Store began through donations of clothing for Crossnore students. Donations that were not suitable for children were sold by Dr. Mary Martin Sloop from her front porch. The Second Hand Sale was later operated for years by Aunt Pop and Uncle Gilmer Johnson. That weekly sale grew into an ongoing secondhand store, now the Blair Fraley Sales Store.
