Description

Pictured at left is Chancellor Thorpe and at right, future chancellor Dr. Jimmy R. Jenkins. Dr. White, an Elizabeth City native and a dentist, served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Elizabeth City State University, and was an energetic proponent of education and frank discussion of the divide between the Black and the white communities.
