As originally constructed, the jail, built on Lot no. 37 first block northeast to the square contained a basement of two rooms, four rooms on the main floor, and four upstairs for the prisoners. Later two more rooms were added on both floors. Among the Sheriffs who lived in the jail were Lawson Mason, Joe Luske, George McKee, Robert White, Clay Abernathy, Toom Love, C.B.
