Description
Upton Gwynn Wilson in a rolling bed has his
picture taken with a stack of books from the Rockingham County
bookmobile. Upton, as a young man in 1912, was shot by a cook he had
just dismissed. The bullet lodged in Upton’s spine leaving him
bedridden for the remainder of his life. He studied journalism
through an extension program and became successful. More on Upton
may be found in "The Heritage of Rockingham County"
book.
