Description

John Hill Boyd (1830-1861) and Samuel H. Boyd (1831-1861) were two of four sons of George D. Boyd, a legislator, justice, merchant, mill owner and planter. The Boyds resided about five miles south of Wentworth, NC at the family home, The Hermitage. Three of the four Boyd brothers died or were killed serving in the Confederate Army and are buried in the Wentworth Methodist Church Cemetery in Wentworth, NC.
