on verso: This is the old slave church, built by the slaves of the Barnes. This church was maintained and used as a church until the middle 1960s. This church is located on the Old Stantonsburg Wilson Road about 2 miles from Stauntonsburg, on the Yates Farm. Across the road in front of the church to the west is the old slave graveyard. It is on the Barnes Farm, down the path leading to the creek right as you go down the hill. There are graves on both sides.
