Dr. Margaret White Battle, the first female physician in the Nash County area, discusses her life in Rocky Mount from the 1930s to the 1980s. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Battle graduated from the University of Michigan in 1933 and found an internship at Park View Hospital in Rocky Mount. She specialized in obstetrics and gynecology. Married to Dr. Newsom Battle. She speaks about the Nash County Historical Association and Rocky Mount Mills, the state’s second cotton mill. Dr. Battle briefly discusses her children and grandchildren.
