The house was built in 1903 for local manufacturer Louis Giles Horn. Horn carried mail between Statesville and Yadkin College for 8 years. He built a roller mill in Mocksville with his brother Gaston. In 1899, Louis built a telephone line to connect Salisbury and Mocksville and later installed electric lights in Mocksville. Horn served on the school board for 20 years.
