Masonic Corinthian Lodge No. 17 organized in 1874. Lodge members observed their 100th anniversary in 1974 at St. John AME Zion Church. In 1976 the lodge was recognized as the Lodge of the Year in NC. The annual Masonic Corinthian Lodge and Davie Educational Union Picnic began in 1884 and over the years has raised funds to support educational opportunities for local students, Davie Training School, and the Oxford Orphanage.
