Transcription: The Watauga Democrat, Olde Boone. This reproduction from a Bob Jones original watercolor shows the front of the Watauga Democrat complex on West King Street in Boone as it appeared until just a few years ago. Constructed in 1933, the two-story structure annexed the Tugman Hardware building (left). Together they house our news/editorial and advertising departments, photography labs, four-color and graphic-arts cameras and darkrooms, computers and printers for typesetting, satellite receipt of AP wire service, classified department and a portion of the production work required before newspapers can be delivered ot the plant for printing.
