Transcription: Watauga Democrat Established 1888 R.C. Rivers, Prop. Boone, N.C. Actually, it was 1930-ish, and this was the backshop of our newspaper. Besdie the stove stands R.C. Rivers, Sr., holding blond Rebekah Rivers and brunett Kathryn McGee Coleman, daughter of Velma Rivers McGee. Next is printer Willard Beach, and on the right Jim Rivers - who wound up in Washington as executive director of the Tax executives Institute. There he was known as "Big Jim Rivers."
