Willard and Pallie Atkins resided in the Love Joy community, approximately four miles north of Troy, North Carolina in Montgomery County, North Carolina. They had four sons: Lexie, Howard, Arthur, and Elmer and four daughters, Mrs. Homer (Mildred) Suggs, Mrs. Charles (LaRue) Batten, Mrs. Robert (Elgie) Freeman and Mrs. Graham (Thelma) Thompson, (Elmer and Thelma were twins).
