The Davie Electric Cooperative incorporated on January 14, 1939 and brought electricity to rural Davie County. The first Board of Directors included Fred Lakey, A.E. Hendrix, J.F. Essic, J.B. Cain, Tom Blackwelder, I.G. Roberts, Marvin Smith, Glenn Cartner, and W.B. Stonestreet.
