J. F. Hanes and J. B. Johnstone organized and managed the Hanes Chair & Table Company in 1914, producing high quality cane-bottomed straight and rocking chairs. The company was sold in 1936 and continued operating under several different names until purchased by Heritage Furniture in 1960.
