Description

In 1776 the present-day Liberty Methodist Church cemetery was Veach's Muster Ground, where militias met for drills. Tory Captain Samuel Bryan and Patriot Richmond Pearson fought a fist fight to determine on which side the local militia would fight. As a result of Pearson's victory, the Forks of the Yadkin militia fought as Patriots. Bryan raised his own Tory militia.
