Built in about 1912 for James Sheek, the house stands near the site of the Weir house, an early 19th century log house. Sheek served as Davie County sheriff from 1898 to 1910. He was elected to terms in the NC House of Representatives and Senate. He also served as Davie County Treasurer and Postmaster (1922-1931).
